History of the Birdsong Nature Center

The Birdsong Nature Center was officially founded on April 23, 1986. It started as a longleaf pine forest and went through a long journey with multiple transformations, before finally ending up as the picturesque nature reserve we have today. It went from pine forest to a plantation to a farm before finally becoming a conservation center for nature.

Betty and Ed Komarek founded the Birdsong Nature Center because they wanted others to have the ability to get the same fulfillment out of nature as they did. With this passion for nature, they decided to create a living museum where you can go and see The Great Outdoors in its full glory. They even offer an outdoor classroom that teaches you all about nature and history! Everything available at this nature center works together to offer a hands on learning that has been passed down for generations.
