The Toyota Crown is not your traditional sedan. The 2023 Crown takes the place of the discontinued Avalon. Are you looking for a vehicle that blurs the lines between a car and an SUV? Well then, the 2023 Toyota Crown is for you. This eye-catching vehicle is certain to attract a broader range of shoppers beyond the full-size sedan market. Learn more about this impressive vehicle.
All-New for 2023
The 2023 Crown initially launches with two conventional hybrid powertrain options. The entry-level configuration combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The top-of-the-line Platinum model features an exclusive hybrid max powertrain. This powertrain combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor on the rear axle. The result is an impressive 340 horsepower output.
Apart from its distinctive look and avant-garde body style, the Crown offers a spacious cabin equipped with premium features. Toyota ensures that all Crown models come with a generous amount of standard driver-assistance systems and state-of-the-art infotainment technology.
Winning the Crown
All variants of the Crown model feature a hybrid powertrain. If you opt for the top-spec Platinum model, then you can experience Toyota’s new Hybrid Max setup. The Hybrid Max setup combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor on the rear axle. The result is an engine that outputs 340 horsepower. On the other hand, the XLE and Limited models come with a slightly less powerful hybrid system. Producing 236 horsepower, this hybrid system relies on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors.
The XLE and Limited versions are equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The Platinum model, however, comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. You can experience all-wheel in every trim as it comes standard.
With the base powertrain, the Crown offers adequate acceleration, with Toyota estimating a 0-60 mph time of 7.6 seconds. However, the Platinum trim, with its more powerful setup, provides noticeably quicker acceleration. Toyota estimates a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds for the Platinum model.
The suspension of the Crown has been specifically tuned to deliver a comfortable and relaxed ride. The Platinum model is outfitted with adaptive dampers. This gives you improved handling as well as a more spirited and enjoyable driving experience in the large sedan.
Comfort Is King
The interior of the Crown’s cabin exudes a luxurious feel. If you switch from your Avalon sedan to the Crown, then you will experience a significant upgrade. This is especially true if you opt for the limited or platinum models. You can enjoy an elevated driving position, similar to that of a compact SUV. If you prefer a sedan with a higher driving position, then the Crown is an appealing choice for you. All models of the Crown come with standard features. These amenities include, eight-way power-adjustable front seats with heat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient interior lighting. The limited and platinum trims go further by adding a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats.
