At Lost Creek Forest, you can get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy everything that nature has to offer. Lost Creek Forest is a major part of Thomas County’s natural heritage. It has been left in the same condition that it is believed the first human settlers found the area. The landscape is unique with its seeps, slope forest, floodplain, different ecosystems, and creeks. Everything is within walking distance so you don’t have to miss out on anything.
A One-of-a-Kind Forest Adventure
It isn’t believed that there are any other forests with the characteristics contained by Lost Creek Forest. It is a climax hardwood forest, and it’s completely intact. You will find beech trees, oak trees, and trees that measure nearly a dozen feet in circumference. If you like wooded areas with a high canopy, there are spruce pines that stand more than 100 feet high. The variety of tree species is amazing. If you are interested in evaluating different tree and shrub species, Long Creek Forest is the perfect place to make these observations. That makes the forest an excellent educational resource.
