Be one of the first to learn what will be new in the 2017 Toyota Highlander. This family SUV recently debuted at the New York Auto Show, and parents and industry experts alike were impressed with what they saw. It will have a new transmission and a few other updates, including changes to the exterior styling.
Toyota Highlander Aesthetic Changes
If you only look at photos from the New York Auto Show, you will still be able to see some of the updates to the 2017 Highlander. The front end has been redesigned with a body-colored strip separating the formerly large area spanning from the lower portion of the front fascia to the hood. The result is a more cohesive look and better framing for the fascia.
2017 Toyota Highlander Mechanicals
The Highlander still has three engine choices, as it did in previous model years, but there are some important updates to this. There is a new 3.5-liter V6 engine that will be found on all but the Highlander LE with 2-wheel drive and the Highlander Hybrid. This engine works with a new 8-speed automatic and also includes a stop-start system as standard to help enhance fuel economy. We don’t know the official figures yet or Toyota’s estimates, but experts predict there will be an increase. The other engines will be identical to those in the current model.
New 2017 Highlander Trim Level
Although we didn’t get to see it at the New York Auto Show, the 2017 Highlander will also be available in a new trim level, the SE. This trim will give you a dark headlamp and grille finish, a returned sportier suspension, and 19-inch wheels.
Details about the upcoming 2017 Toyota Highlander are still limited, but the team at Thomasville Toyota in Thomasville, Georgia, can help you sign up for updates. We will also gladly fill you in on all the information that has been released so far.
