What’s the Difference in the Toyota 4Runner SR5, Trail, Limited, and TRD Pro?

Toyota 4Runner Thomasville

The 2016 Toyota 4Runner is an incredibly capable vehicle that can handle off-roading with ease. Depending on the trim level you choose, you can also enjoy numerous premium features or even an optional 50/50 third row that makes the 4Runner great for families. When configuring your SUV, you will notice that there are four trims to choose from: the SR5, Trail, TRD Pro, and Limited. The SR5 and Limited both have an extra Premium sub-trim.

To help you make your decision, consider how these trims differ in a few important categories. Once you do your research, you can pick up your own 4Runner and take it around Georgia. You know your Thomasville neighbors will be impressed when you pull up in one of these beauties.

Toyota 4Runner Exterior

The base 4Runner SR5 comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, LED taillights, heated exterior mirrors, a rearview camera, a deicer for the windshield wiper, and a power liftgate window.

The 4Runner Trail has its own 17-inch wheels, along with silver trim accents and a hood scoop. Then, the TRD Pro adds a sunroof and upgraded mirrors. This model has 17-inch wheels in matte black and off-road tires. It also gets automatic headlights and a black front grille.

You get all of that plus 20-inch alloy wheels with the top Limited trim.

Toyota 4Runner Off-Roading and Capabilities

Standard features on the 4Runner SR5 include mudguards, skid plates, hill descent control and hill start assist (for 4WD models), and a tow hitch. As an off-road-oriented model, the Trail adds crawl control, selectable terrain modes, and a locking rear differential. The TRD Pro is the best 2016 4Runner trim for off-roading, giving a unique aluminum front skid plate, higher ride height, upgraded front springs, and Bilstein shocks. The 4Runner Limited takes away some of the off-roading features to focus on luxury instead. It does add adaptive roll-reducing dampers.

Interior Toyota 4Runner Comfort and Convenience

For convenience, the SR5 comes with keyless entry and cruise control. Comfort comes via the leather on the tilt and telescoping steering wheel, 40/20/40 reclining rear seats, six-way power seat with power lumbar for the driver, and air-conditioning featuring second-row vents. The TRD Pro trim adds a rearview mirror that automatically dims, power for the front passenger seat, leatherette upholstery, and heated seats. For a premium interior, the 4Runner Limited adds dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless ignition, ventilated seats in front, and leather upholstery.

Toyota 4Runner Technology

The base 4Runner SR5 comes with the Scout GPS Link system for navigation through your cellphone. It also includes Bluetooth for phone and audio, eight speakers, voice controls, satellite and HD radio, a CD player, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, a USB/iPod interface, and an auxiliary audio jack. The TRD Pro includes Entune featuring navigation and smartphone app integration. At the top of the line, the Limited adds 15 speakers of JBL sound, Safety Connect telematics, and parking sensors in the front and rear.
