What Is The Birdsong Nature Center?

Betty and Ed Komarek are the founders of the Birdsong Nature Center, and its purpose is to create a haven for wildlife. It also designed as an opportunity for people to come and enjoy nature. The Nature Center has transformed since the 1800s from a longleaf pine forest to now a center for conservation and learning. The diverse wildlife habitats were created by fire and now is where an outdoor classroom and living museum sits year round for hands-on learning experiences.

There is over 160 species of birds, and you can sit and view them through the Bird Window. There is 12 miles of nature trails, a Listening Place overlooking Big Bay Swamp, and a Butterfly Garden where you can sit and observe the butterfly life cycle.

What Can You Do At The Nature Center?

Take the time to explore the trails or plan to visit the Nature Center on April 22 for the Atlanta Contemporary Ensemble “The Language of Birds” or on April 29 for “Take a Child Outside in the Springtime.” If you want to immerse yourself into this natural habitat, then checkout the variety of wildflowers that can be found throughout the Nature Center, or go on an adventure through one of 12 nature trails.
