About the Band

Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play consists of three musicians. Chris Brubeck plays the bass trombone, electric bass, and piano. Peter “Madcat” Ruth takes on the guitar, harmonica, jaw harp, and percussion, while Joel Brown is the master of the folk and classical acoustic guitar. All three of the guys also share the vocal duties.

Each member of the band has been a part of the music scene for decades, and they shared the stage well before they formed Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play. Madcat and Brubeck first toured together in 1969. Back then, they were part of the group New Heavenly Blue and played rock music. After that, Brubeck started Crofut & Brubeck and brought Brown on to play guitar for one of the albums. Brown also partnered up with Brubeck for the album “Back to Brubeck.” This album featured the London Symphony Orchestra.

With so much history, it made sense for all three of the guys to finally come together, and they did in 1999 when Brubeck formed Triple Play.

The group released a live album in 2000, and since then, they’ve been busy filling concert halls. They have even performed with orchestras in the United States.
