Where and When to Go
If you want to enjoy some delicious pecans, watermelon, or other produce, head over to 289 Commercial Drive, right here in Thomasville, Georgia. You can also give them a call at (229) 228-9169. The store and gift shop are closed on weekends but open every other day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 2 to 4 p.m.
W.G. Hamil’s Pecans
W.G. Hamil accumulates pecans on a wholesale level, so it buys quality nuts from multiple farmers throughout the southeastern states. Pecans are on sale beginning in early to mid-October and ending in February; this is when you can find wholesale in-shell nuts which the team inspected, processed, and then bagged. From there, you can buy pecans at wholesale prices in 50-pound bags.
If you visit the gift shop, you can also buy pecans in smaller quantities, including reasonable sizes for families or individuals. The pecans for sale at the gift shop are already shelled so you don’t have to put in any effort. Choose from one- or five-pound bags, either in halves or pieces, or opt for a smaller bag of roasted salted, honey glazed, dark chocolate, or praline pecans, or one of the many other flavors.
W.G. Hamil’s Watermelons
The company also ships watermelons both for retail and wholesale markets. W.G. Hamil’s state-of-the-art machinery ensures high-grade watermelons at all times, and the company uses food traceability to make sure your produce arrives fresh.
Let Your Sweet Tooth Enjoy Southern Treats

The gift shop is open all year round, but you will find even more treats, including those filled with pecans, in early fall. Save some room for pecan toffee, pecan pralines, peanut brittle, pecan pie, cookies, and jellies.

Some Company History
W.G. Hamil’s history began when, in 1935, J.W. Renfroe founded J.W. Renfroe Pecan Company in Troy, Alabama. Renfroe had the goal of making a small business with integrity and honesty. J.W. Renfroe Jr. took over in 1974 when Renfroe Sr. passed away. In 1980, Greg Hamil, Renfroe Sr.’s grandson, joined the company and created a branch-buying station right here in Thomasville. Upon joining the company, Hamil added watermelons to the product lineup. The next big step for Hamil was in 2007 when he left Renfroe to make his own business. He bought his uncle’s (Renfroe Jr.’s) interest in the facility in Thomasville, and W.G. Hamil was born. Greg’s son, Michael, became a full-time part of the company in 2010, helping to continue the family tradition.
